Aesculap Academy Offers New Course
Knee Revision Surgical Skills Course
Center Valley, PA (March 26, 2012) – The demand for a better quality of life has driven exponential demand in the knee replacement market. For primary total knee arthroplasties, implantations are growing by 673% to 3.48 million procedures and total knee revisions are projected to grow 601% between 2005 and 20301.To address the increasing needs of surgeon training and education in this field, the Aesculap Academy recently added a new surgical skills course dedicated to teaching current concepts in knee revision surgery through a hands-on cadaveric lab atmosphere.
Knee revision surgeries are typically complex and time consuming, requiring intuitive instruments and versatile implants along with surgical precision for optimum patient outcomes. Aesculap Academy, a premier continuing medical education provider, and
Aesculap Implant Systems, LLC developed the Knee Revision Surgical Skills Course to provide comprehensive, practical knowledge of knee revision surgery that will guide participants through manual and navigated procedures using the EnduRo™ and Columbus® Knee Revision System in combination with the OrthoPilot® Navigation System. The Aesculap Implant Systems product line is designed to simplify revision surgery and is unmatched in the marketplace.
Led by distinguished faculty, this course utilizes a combination of didactic classroom lectures featuring applicable case studies as well as a cadaveric lab for hands-on exposure to instrumentation. William M. Mihalko, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and J.R. Hyde Chair and Director of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedics and Biomedical Engineering and Aesculap Academy course faculty member said, “The Aesculap Academy courses provide surgeons with a hands-on experience in a collegial environment that provides a feeling of trust that they can carry over to their first operative case.”
The first Knee Revision Surgical Skills course will be held on June 23, 2012 in Chicago. For more information on attending the course visit www.aesculap-academy.com or call
